How to install Spigot/Paper/Purpur

Learn how to change your Minecraft server version to a high-performance fork.

Why use Paper or Purpur?

Vanilla Minecraft is not optimized for servers with multiple players. We highly recommend using Paper or Purpur, which are modified versions of the game server software that offer significant performance improvements and bug fixes while maintaining vanilla gameplay mechanics.

Installation Steps

  1. Log in to the RYN Host Control Panel.
  2. Stop your server if it is currently running.
  3. Navigate to the "Startup" tab on the left sidebar.
  4. Locate the "Server Jar" or "Docker Image" section.
  5. Select your desired version (e.g., Paper 1.20.4) from the dropdown menu.
  6. Go to the "Settings" tab and click "Reinstall Server". (Note: This may overwrite core server files, but your world data should be safe. Always backup first!).
  7. Start your server. The panel will automatically download the necessary jar files.

Manual Installation (Custom JAR)

If the version you want isn't in the dropdown:

  1. Download the `.jar` file from the official PaperMC website.
  2. Use SFTP to upload the file to your server's root directory.
  3. Rename the uploaded file to server.jar.
  4. Start your server.
